Mr. James Jordan

About Me:

My name is James Jordan, and I am a Resource Specialist for the 7th and 8th grade at High Desert School.  I have worked with children in various capacities since I was 16 years old. I began in an afterschool program in Santa Clarita, helping students with their homework, and then became a camp counselor. From there, I worked as a classroom aide at Newhall School District, a substitute teacher and full-time special education teacher at Castaic Union School District, a behavioral therapist, and a Resource Specialist in four different schools. I have had a wide range of experiences with autism, down syndrome, learning disabilities, and ADD/ADHD.  I was born and raised in Grass Valley, California, a historic gold mining town between Lake Tahoe and Sacramento.  I lived there with my mother and my younger brother, and I enjoyed spending my childhood in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. My family moved to Santa Clarita when I began attending college in the Los Angeles area.  My hobbies include playing the piano, hiking, camping, and fishing. In fact, one of my most recent vacations was going to Arkansas and hiking in the Ozarks.
