Ms. Zuly Quezada

About Me:

My name is Zuly Quezada and I am the new school counselor at High Desert School.  I have more than 20 years of experience working with “at risk” children and
families. Prior to my position at Acton-Agua Dulce School District, I worked as a K-12 school counselor, pre-licensed therapist, and social worker in different settings. I
have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Additionally, I am a Certified Parenting Instructor, a Certified Social Emotional Arts Counselor and I hold a Child Welfare & Attendance credential.

I am fortunate to work in a multicultural and multilingual community where I can utilize my knowledge and skills to support our students and their parents. I am of
the belief that “it takes a village to raise a child,” and strive to build a comprehensive school counseling program that supports the academics and well-being of our
students; while enhancing the parenting skills of the community.

When I am not working, you will find me spending time with my family, in nature, or traveling. I am a learner at heart, and I love to read about health, the body, and mind connection. I love to dance and aim to bring out the physical movement and creativity of my students. This helps them release negative emotions in a
socially accepted manner to consequently increase their academic achievement and attendance.

About Me:

I'm a very private, religious and spiritual person. I like to practice mindfulness, in particular yoga and meditation. I have worked for many years in education because I believe that a good education is the foundation to become a productive, fulfilled person.  I believe that Education opens people's minds in which the possibilities are endless. I support special needs students Within the position as a School Psychologist, but I work towards integration. In my experience, it creates a bridge between all of the  minds in the school environment. All children are equally important, equally capable and equally unique to me. They can all reach their potential.

Goals:

  • The High Desert School counseling department meets with each student every year to review and amend four-year plans to ensure alignment with college and career goals.  We employ many resources to facilitate this process, the most important of which are linked on the left of this page to benefit students and parents in the planning process.

The Academic Review is the central document for pacing and evaluating student academic progress each year.

The Aeries Portal link provides instructions to parents or students on the process of creating an account through which grades can be tracked.

Grade Reports provides the dates on which academic marks are submitted and released to individuals through progress reports or report cards.

Graduation Requirements represents the Board approved mandatory course of study by subject area that all students must complete in full in order to earn a diploma.
