Monday Message

Today we had our first outdoor Morning Buzz Assembly to introduce our staff and encourage school pride and spirit. Our  Behavior Assembly was also held this morning with a special visit from Mr. King, our Superintendent, who led our flag salute for our first assembly. Be sure to ask your child how their class can earn points in the MPR in order to earn extra lunch recess time. We have special play equipment that is used just for our Extended Recess times and who doesn’t love a little more play time? Also, ask your child what appropriate Voice Level means and about our 3 Be’s-Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe.

PTO T-shirt sales begin this week through September. You will be getting an updated form with a new logo in the next few days. This is your opportunity to purchase a Meadowlark t-shirt and show your pride. Fridays are our Spirit Days and it’s the perfect time to wear your shirt or sweatshirt and show your school spirit. New order forms will be sent home as soon as we receive them and can be returned to the office when you are ready to order. There will also be a PTO meeting on Thursday at 8:35 in the MPR. We hope you can join us and be a part of this hard working group.

The Community Advisory Committee is a school associated group comprised of parents, educators and other interested community members. It’s purpose is to provide families of students with disabilities information on specific topics and encourage involvement in the development and review of the Local Plan, as well as disability awareness. Please go to www.avspecialed.com or stop by the Meadowlark office for more information.

If you haven’t returned your first day packet yet, please do so as soon as possible. It is important that we have updated information in case we need to contact you during the school day.

I also want to extend a big thank you to those parents who have been using the valet line. It works really well when we move all the way forward in the line and not stop in the middle. Using the orange valet cards is also very helpful so we can call your child’s name and he/she can be waiting for you in the appropriate spot. If you need a card, we have plenty in the office for you! I was also very pleased to see all of the parents who modeled for our students the use of the crosswalk. It’s important that we do all we can to keep our kids, and ourselves safe and follow all traffic rules.
