Agua Dulce School will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair from June 3rd through June 7th. Please stop by to see some great books and support our school library.

Reading is like any other skill - it gets better with practice. Research shows students that spend as little as 30 minutes per day reading makes them better readers and score higher on state testing. Be sure to read aloud to your student. Research shows this is probably the most important thing you can do for your child.

While reading aloud to your child, ask them lots of question. Stop before the end of the story and ask them to predict what will happen next. If you are reading a poem, ask them to predict the next rhyming word. (This is especially important for kindergarten and first grade students.) After you finish the story, ask your child to think of how the story might relate to a personal experience, or ask them how they would change the story.
